So what will be some of the better features of the NEW Dryerball and when do you think it will be available for purchase?
Stacey says:
Hi there! I’m busy writing my review of Nellie’s All-Natural, and I was checking out the pricing on your laundry soda. I was wondering why the package of 60 laundry nuggets costs more per load than the package of 36? Also, do you offer a discount if I purchase more than one bag of laundry soda? The ‘package deal’ is the same price as buying 2 individual bags. I’d like to clarify this before I post my review. Thanks
~Stacey

Hi there
Just wanted to say how much I love your products! I bought the Laundry Soda
and DryerBalls and love them. I feel like I have become a walking
advertisement as I tell everyone about how wonderful they are!
A question though. I was reading about how to use your products as a stain
remover. In the FAQ it says to use the Oxygen Brightener and water…. is that
the same as the Laundry Soda? Help!
admin says:
The oxygen brightener will not be available until the end of July. However, the Nellie’s Laundry Soda will work just as well, mixed the same way. Always remember to test color fastness first.
admin says:
Thank you for your interest in the new Dryerball. Let’s see what I can tell you about it. The new Dryerball will be made of Thermal Plastic Rubber (TPR) which is much friendlier to the environment to manufacture and recycle. We feel this Dryerball will be more durable and last much longer than the current Dryerball.
As well, we’ve built in a very cool feature that allows you to add cotton infused essential oils to the core of the new Nellie’s Dryerball to add a subtle fragrance to linens and clothing!! We will have a “demo” section to show you how to do this, when the Dryerballs are available.
As far as availability goes, it can’t get here soon enough for the overwhelming interest we have received, to date! We are looking at October, as we are currently in the testing stages to ensure quality and functionality.
Deb Moisenko says:
Are there any retailers in Windsor, Ontario selling your products, especially the laundry soda? – Thanks.
admin says:
With regard to the pricing on our laundry products:
Thank you so much for pointing this out! It appears that Nellie is good with laundry but not math! We have since gone onto the website and adjusted the prices accordingly. I am not to sure how we missed it, maybe we were all playing with Nugget. We appreciate the fact that you have pointed this out. As far as the bundle deals go, they are a better deal than the individual purchases (since the correction).

I buy Nellie’s Laundry Soda from the Bay. Today I notice that the hard box(not tin) of
Laundry Soda has been replaced with a soft pouch for 50 loads.
Is the box being discontinued and what was the load count of the box..I recall that
it was noticeably hefty/heavy.

Hi there, I was just wondering why the washing soda packaging was switched to plastic and if it will be switched back? I really like the cardboard, and it’s recyclable!
Also, I use borax as a laundry booster and haven’t had any trouble but I did kind of just want to check in and make sure that that’s alright
Thanks!
admin says:
We are working on a new “tube” style package for the 120 load soda to replace the 100 load soda box that we previously carried. The new cardboard tube will be recyclable as well! We expect the new tube to be ready by the end of July.
admin says:
Additives with Nellie’s Laundry Soda ~
Yes, it is okay to add Borax as an additive to our laundry soda. You may want to try the new Oxygen Brightener when it is available at the end of July.

Nellie’s,
I have a 5 month old grandson. He has some reflux and spits up all the time. He is on a soy formula and his “burp rags” have a terriable odor. It seems to build up more and more with time. I have tried, 3 brands of laundry soap, 2 brands of “baby laundry soap”, adding soda to the wash, vinegar, bleach, soaking, pinesol, sun and wind and of course fabric softner. The softner was the worse idea. It seems to bring up the odor and add a flowery smell. It was getting to the point that we could not tell clean cloths from dirty ones by the smell. I recently bought some Nellie’s Laundry Soda. I filled the washer with his clothes, and only put in a scoop of Nellie’s, no fabric softner. His laundy came out so clean smelling! All the odor dissappeared! His clothes are soft and don’t stink!!!! I can’t tell you how happy we are! It even does a pretty fair job of removing babyfood stains.
You could think about creating a spray on pre-treater.
The moral of the story is….BUY NELLIE’S it works, removes odors and stains!

For front-loading HE washers, do you put the nugget in the detergent dispenser or do you toss the nugget in the barrel with the clothes? I’ve read that sometimes the cover will not completely dissolve if the nugget is not completely dissolved in water before adding clothes.
Ivy says:
I bought a set of your dryer balls from Gaiam and one has cracked open after only a few uses. Is this common? Have other people reported this? I am wondering whether to exchange them or just get a refund…
Gregory Chandler says:
I love your laundry nuggets and dryerballs. I use the nuggets because I have used to much of products in the past and the nuggets are great being pre-measuredd. I am looking forward to the new product line being released. My clothes are comming cleaner than when I was using Tide old stains in my clothes came out even after many wash cycles with Tide. Thanks Nellie.
SmittenKitten says:
Does anyone know if Nellie’s is safe to clean an acrylic tub such as a bathfitter? We have stains that I am looking to vanish from my life…would a paste work?
Diane says:
I’ve heard you can use the laundry soda as a stain remover. I haven’t found directions yet as to how to make it. I’ve heard “just deslove in warm water” how much soda to how much water?
I first bought this for cloth diapers but am now getting rid of my old detergent and ordering more Nellie’s soda.
Thanks
Catherine says:
Wow! I am a massage therapist and do a considerable amount of laundry each week. The nuggets take the lotion completely out of the material. My sheets are silky soft even though they are hung to dry. Even my jeans hung out on the line are soft and supple.
I gave both my daughters the dryer balls and they love them. I have even taking to giving out two nuggets to try to my regular massage clients.
I really look forward to the automatic dishwasher detergent and the new dryer balls! Keep the amazing all-natural eco-friendly products coming.
Celia Brasso says:
I am completely fed-up with all the chemicals and toxins lurking in my home. After doing a lot of research, I have now gone completely natural with all my cleaning, personal care and laundry products. I love Nellie’s laundry soap, but Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate is in the news now as an agent to avoid. Can you shed some light? I’d like to keep using Nellie’s… thanks!
Susan Dixon says:
I currently use vinegar in the bleach and softener sections with my washing. We want to switch over to the Nellie’s laundry soda. Can I still use vinegar in my front load washer as before?
Thanks,
Susan
SummerFun says:
I wish you weren’t changing your dryer balls! I have a latex/rubber allergy and was happy when I found out that they are made of food grade PVC. (I hope this was correct! Please advise me if not!) If you begin to manufacture them with Thermal Plastic Rubber I am afraid I likely won’t be able to buy them again.
Robyn says:
Based on all the positive customer feedback, it seems that you have good quality products, and it’s nice to see that you are responsive to customer questions. I’ve seen your products and have been tempted to try them, but I have not been able to determine (either from the packaging or this website) whether or not you (or your suppliers) engage in animal testing? Can you “come clean” on this point, please?!
Max says:
Hi
The new package of nuggets I bought at the store says “New Formula. Use only in warm or hot water.” Can these new nuggets be used with a cold wash? I’d rather not use any more gas to heat water for washing clothes than I have to.
The old dryer balls are made of PVC. Can you tell me if phthalates are used to soften the plastic? I’m a little worried about the phthalates leaching as the dryer balls get hot.
I like your products. I’ll really like them if you can answer these questions
carabeth says:
I have just recently switched to the nuggets, and I am happy with my laundry. My question has to do with the dissolvable wrapper, I often have most of it left in the drawer. When we first started using them, there would also be an undissolved clump of soda, but I find if I ‘massage” the nugget first, sort of break it up, then this doesn’t happen, but there is still wrapper left, are there any suggestions?
Elaina says:
Hello,
I have been using Nellies detergent and dryerballs for a while now, and I love them. I am really looking forward to trying the new dishwasher detergent, and I was hoping to purchase some with my next order. The “New Products” blog said that these new products would be available in the beginning of July, but I check the website frequently and they are still shown as “Coming Soon”. When can I expect these new products to become available for purchase?
admin says:
Susan,
You can use vinegar with the Nellie’s Laundry Soda. We have actually suggested this instead of fabric softener.
admin says:
Animal Testing
We have been asked this question a few times in the last month. We do not test our products on animals, nor do we have our suppliers test our products on animals. This is stated on our packaging.
admin says:
Dryer Ball Materials Issue Date: January 4, 2007
PVC resin (poly vinyl chloride)
Plasticizer (dinonyl phthalate)
Heat Stabilizer (Stearate)
PVC (poly vinyl chloride) is among the largest volume plastics produced in the world. It is in hundreds of products we use daily, even in toy products for children. PVC is one of the most thoroughly tested, well-researched plastic materials on the market today. It is being continually examined by the world’s leading governmental health authorities.
I recently contacted Steve Hearn (the VP of PVC Resin Division) of Georgia Gulf. Georgia Gulf bought out the PVC division from DuPont. Steve is very knowledgeable on the chemistry of PVC material. He informed me that “off-gassing/emission” could not create by PVC resin but only by added plasticizers. The kind of plasticizer used in our dryer balls is dinonyl phthalate. Based on the percentages of this plasticizer (44%) in our dryer balls- Steve stated that the amount of leaching would be almost undetectable (less than a part per billion).
Steve also mentioned that any complaints concerning chlorine emissions would be false. Vinyl products are inherently flame-retardant due to their chlorine base, do not readily ignite and most will not continue to burn once a flame or heat source is removed. The chemical chlorine doesn’t produce heat or emissions.
The latest studies by the Vinyl Institute show that although vinyl production has tripled over the past thirty years, the dioxin levels in the United States have actually declined significantly. EPA reports have shown that water and air dioxin emissions have declined over 70 percent in the last four years reported and there is no confirmed case on record in which a member of the general population has been harmed by exposure to VCM.
Having said this;
We are looking into new alternatives for Dryerball material. We should have a solution by the end of 2008.
admin says:
The Detergent is Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate. It is a coconut based (LAURYL) Ethoxylated fatty alcohol. Coconut oil on its own will wash nothing. It is therefore chemically modified so that it becomes surface active and thus performs like a detergent. This commodity is widely used by many detergent manufacturers because it readily biodegradable, non toxic and mild and efficient. It is also NOT Petroleum based. We are very conscious of the products we formulate on behalf of Nellie’s Laundry and remain transparent in the availability of information pertaining to the ingredients of our products.
admin says:
To answer the question regarding the nuggets that say “New Formula” use only in hot or warm water.
The new formula was developed for shipping in cold weather. The laundry soda is the same but the casing is a little thicker to hold up during shipping in sub zero temperatures.
Many people have informed us that the nugget still dissolves in cold water. Some have stated that they tear a little hole in the pouch or massage the pouch when using cold water.

I’m going to be cloth diapering my 2nd child when she is born in October. I have been doing a lot of investigating into the care of the diapers. I having a hard time deciding on the detergent I should use. Nellie’s all natural and Allen’s naturally seem to be the highest recommended of all detergents. I want to know if there is different directions to use for diapers to prevent pilling or would the nuggets be just right? Do i need to add another detergent with Nellie’s?
Rachel DePoy says:
I have used one set of the dryer balls for the past 5 years and have been very pleased with the chemical-free softness and shorter drying time that they have offered. They are also so much cheaper to use than if I were having to buy standard fabric softener!

How does Nellie’s compare to other colour safe detergents? Will Nellie be coming up with a dark-wash laundry soda?
Lisa Allen says:
Dear Nellie:
I love your products! After using commercial soap and fabric softeners I am sold on your
clean, effective and eco-friendly products. My clothes now smell like they’ve hung on the laundry line in the sun all day. I do have one question though, is there any possibility that your packaging for the 50 load laundry soda can be either biodegradable and/or recyclable?
Your packaging for the 50 load laundry soda isn’t recyclable. Thank you.
Lisa

Kelley says:
I love the dryer balls, but mine broke apart after just one month. The box says it is guaranteed for two years, but I can’t figure out how to get replacements.
admin says:
Although the packaging for the 50 load soda is not recyclable, the amount of energy used to produce the 50 load pouch is far less then many other methods of packaging and takes up less room in landfill then most other forms of packaging: that being the reason that many other companies have turned to this method. Having said that, at the time the decision was made there was no other alternative in the market place.
Currently we are working directly with a plastic company with the development and of a degradable bag. The new bag is not only recyclable but it can be composted and it will begin decomposing within 60 – 90 days in a land fill. We are still in the testing stages and hope to be utilizing this package in the new year. Nellie’s will proudly be one of the first companies presenting this type of packaging for the market place.

I’ve never used Nellies products, but am considering buying Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener. My questions are: Is the Brightener to be used in addition to laundry detergent (for example, to replace bleach), and also, is it OK to use in cold water wash cycles? Thank you for your help.
Mary Pat Mills says:
I recently purchased Nellie’s Pink Dryerballs. Can they be used for all dryer loads or only with no heat loads?
admin says:
Oxygen Brightener has 4 main uses:
Oxy Bright can be used as an additive to whiten your whites and brighten your brites
Oxy Bright can be used in Pre Soak or Hand Wash loads
Oxy Bright can be used as a general stain remover
Oxy Bright can be used as a carpet spot remover
Instructions for these uses are on the back of the Oxygen Brightener can.
admin says:
Nellie’s pink dryerballs were originally designed for delicate loads and drying with no heat, however, the pink dryerballs can be used in regular loads of laundry with regular heat settings.

Sondra Irby says:
I recently purchased some dryer balls (not your brand) and they were very hard and made a lot of noise in the dryer. Before I purchase yours, I need to know if they are soft and will not be noisy in my dryer.
Mary Siever says:
We have used Nellie’s for several months, but we started noticing recently that it doesn’t seem to be getting out stains anymore. Our cloths napkins still have stains and my husband’s and son’s dress shirts have rings around the collars and cuffs.
Any idea what we’re doing wrong? We wash in cold water exclusively and use one scoop per load.
admin says:
Nellie’s Laundry Soda work’s great as a pre-treatment as well. All you need to do is put 1 tablespoon or 1 nugget in a spray bottle with 16 oz of warm water, let it dissolve, shake up and spray on stained or heavily soiled areas while putting clothes into the washing machine. Wash as normal. This should solve the problems with stains or soiled areas of fabrics.
diane says:
I have been using your laundry nuggets but they are not dissolving properly – I often find hard clumps of laundry soap at the end of the wash. The only way to avoid this is to hold the nugget under the water as the washer is filling and then throw away the residual plastic. I use vinegar as a fabric softener and we don’t have particularly hard water. The problem is worse in cold water.
Is this something that you will be looking at as you improve your product? I’d like to keep using Nellie’s but if I have to hold the nuggets under water, I may as well just buy powder…
admin says:
During the winter season we use a different film for the nuggets. The reason we do this is to prevent the nugget form breaking open during shipping.
When we ship nuggets in cold weather the summer film has a tendency to freeze and ultimately crack open leaving customers with a bag or tub full of broken nuggets. We solved this issue by increasing the thickness of the film but The downside is that the nugget does not dissolve as well in cold water for some customers. This depends on how cold your water is and also the hardness. If you experience problems with the nuggets not dissolving we recommend using our powdered version during the winter season.
Carrie says:
I just want to say I am very happy with my dryer balls, soap and oxy brightener. My 2mnn old was breaking out and I finally figured it was the laundry soap I was using. I had also found that my cloth diapers weren’t clean enough and I was stripping them often to get rid of the residue regular laundry soap left. Not to mention both my boys had rashes on unmentionable parts. Well, I ordered Nellies package with the 4 dryer balls and have never been so happy. My 2mn old’s whole body rash is clearing, my 2yr olds bum is less red and the oxy brightener seems to slowly be getting the horrible stains from toddler poo out of my dipes! I will definitely be buying more soon! I am currently only using it on dipes and the 2mn olds clothes, but upon running out of my other soap will switch the entire family’s laundry. Thank you so much! I look forward to further business with you!

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that the location finder doesn’t seem to be working. You can click on the province, but once you go to select a city there are no options in the drop down.
Thanks for looking in to this!

Sherri says:
Hi,
I am considering purchasing the Laundry soda and dryer balls and I wanted to make sure that I can use the soda in my Kenmore HE top loading washer? Also, do the dryer balls help with static cling?
Thanks,
Sherri
admin says:
Nellie’s laundry soda and nuggets are both HE certified.
The Dryerballs are not designed to eliminate static cling. They do help to prevent it by reducing the drying time. To reduce static cling you can separate natural fibers from synthetic when drying clothes.

I use the Laundry Soda to launder my daughter’s cloth diapers and I LOVE it!!!
She never has dirt diapers when they come out of the washer
Thank you so much for an amazing product!!

What are the dryer balls made of? I’ve read that they could be made of PVC which could be rubbing off on the clothes. I use them to dry by son’s diapers and all of our clothes and I just want to be safe.
Thanks
Heather says:
Hello, I had a similar question as someone else about Nellie’s and cloth diapering. Do you have reccomendations for using Nelli’s on diapers. Also since washing soda is the main ingredient is it as harsh as regular washing soda that will break down diapers after time? Thanks
LINDSEY says:
I was just wondering if your dryer balls were bpa free? because them heating up in the dryer if they were’nt , wouldnt’ they be toxic?
Becky says:
I am a new user of Nellie’s products. I use the laundry soda and brightener with every load and wash in cold water. I have no problems with either product, but just have one question: On the canister of laundry soda, it says to use “one spoonful” in each load. What is the exact measurement required for small, medium and large loads? I’ve been using about 1/4 cup with large loads, and still notice that the water isn’t sudsy when it’s agitated with the clothes in it. I don’t want to be useing too much, but also want to make sure I’m using enough to get my clothes clean.
Ashley says:
Just wondering about using this product for cloth diapers. Anything extra I have to do to use the detergent to clean the diapers most effectively? Also is the brightener safe to use for the baby clothing? Sorry I am a first time mother expecting in just a few weeks and am just wanting the best and safest product for the little one as well as better detergent for my husband and myself.
Emily says:
Hi!
Any word on when the new dryer balls will be available?
Thanks!
Stephanie says:
I just received my order of Nellie’s Laundry Soda a couple of days ago. I had two tests ready and waiting to try it on. The first was the cloth diapers for our twins. I have had so many problems with other detergents leaving residue on them that would give our girls a rash every time. The second test was on a comforter that no matter what I did, or how many times I washed it, would never smell clean….
Nellie’s Laundry Soda is a miracle! The diapers are clean, and smell better than when they were brand new. The comforter that I thought would have to be thrown away now smells like it was washed in spring water and dried in the sun. All after only one wash! I am NOT exaggerating!
Everything smells CLEAN, just like things did when I was little and my grandma would hang out the wash in summer. It also left everything soft enough that I didn’t need any fabric softener.
I am in absolute love with this product, and will be a customer for life. Thank you so much!
Jenny says:
Hello!
I use the Nellie’s laundry soda for my cloth diapers and it seems to work great so far.
Could you please tell me if I am supposed to put less soap if I use a front-loader (HE machine)?
Thanks,
Jenny
Denise says:
I have read that detergents containing natural oils should be avoided when washing cloth diapers. Nellie’s detergent ingredients include coconut oil. Please help me to understand how this doesn’t build up on the CDs and how it works in cleaning laundry. I am having difficulty choosing a CD detergent and I like Nellie’s price best.

hi – i just wanted to share how well the laundry soda is working for my cloth diapers. i was previously using one of the “free” detergents and my little guy was ending up with a diaper rash and the diapers developed a smell. i did some research and nellie’s came highly recommended for cloth diapers. i stripped the diapers and started using nellie’s and since then my guy has been rash free and the diapers are stink-free!
thanks so much!
admin says:
Nellie’s laundry soda is very low sudzing. Regardless of the sudz, the clothes will get clean with the recommended amount.
Suzanne says:
I have used your laundry nuggets for a long time. My most recent shipment had stickers over the directions saying to use only warm water. Whether I use warm OR cold water, I often have the wrapper left undissolved, not discovered before going into the dryer, and then stuck like gum onto an article of clothing after the dryer. Why is this happening? Do the new wrappers just not dissolve as well? Why do you still advertise that they dissolve in any temperature when they don’t? I’d rather not figure out how to re-package and return all that I ordered (I order a lot when I order), but am really disappointed that this keeps happening with a product I’ve used so successfully for such a long time. Thanks.
Jessica says:
I noticed that the cloth diaper questions never seam to get answered. I too am trying out Nellie’s on my cloth diapers as it’s been highly recommended by several diaper companies and retailers. Can you please clarify how much to use for a load of diapers (powder and nuggets), especially in a HE machine? Are there any other tips we should know about for using Nellie’s with diapers? Thank you!
admin says:
Hi Jessica,
Here is a guideline for washing cloth diapers with Nellie’s:
If you were to presoak in a diaper pail (*if your brand of diapers allow pre-soak*) add 1 tablespoon/1 nugget per 3 gallons of hot water, stir in before adding diapers.
Washing one regular size load of laundry, approximately 12 diapers, you would use 1 tablespoon or 1 nugget.
As well, 1 tablespoon of Oxygen Brightener can be added to the wash cycle (*if your brand of diapers allows this*). Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener contains no enzymes.
Midori says:
Hi! Just a question about the Oxygen Brightener. I’ve read that Oxiclean is not good to use for cloth diapers because of all of the extra additives, so I’ve seen it suggested that I should use Oxiclean Baby instead since it supposedly does not contain the extra additives of the original. Does Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener contain any additives that might harm either the diapers or my baby’s skin? Would I also be safe using this on my cloth diapers? Thanks!
admin says:
Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener is chlorine free and does not contain enzymes or fillers. Many cloth diaper families use Nellie’s Oxy Bright for this reason. I hope this answers your questions.
Emily B says:
I love Nellie’s laundry soda! I use it on my Bum Genius Pocket Diapers. Nellie’s is a great value, its amazing how little you have to use. I was very excited to find Nellie’s at a store across the street from my husband’s work. This laundry soda will be in all of my baby shower gifts I give.
I found Nellie’s laundry soda on all the online diaper detergent tables listed as a great choice, because it is free of the brighteners, softeners, enzymes, dyes, and fragrances that diaper companies warn will coat your diapers in a water resistant residue and give your precious babies rashes / detergent burn. I have been pleased, to say the least, at how well Nellie’s works on my diapers. I was nervous about all the problems that can be encountered with cloth diapers and the seemingly “free and clear” detergents out there. Nellie’s is helping me to protect my investment (cloth diapers can be a large investment). I’m confident I will get as many uses/washes as possible out of my diapers with this great product.
Most all cloth diapers I have read up on advise using 1/2 the recommended amount of laundry soap for washing in a regular washing machine, and then for an HE washer it is advised to cut the amount in half again so you would only be using 1/4 the recommended amount.
Lori says:
I just had to pop in and say that I am a recent convert to Nellie’s Laundry Soda, and I absolutely love it! I never knew what clean clothes really smelled like, until now. I’ll never go back to perfume-y laundry detergents that mask the smell of clothes that aren’t truly clean. But the thing that really prompted me to write in is that prior to using Nellie’s, I had a serious stink issue with my front-loader. I tried everything I could think of to get the smell out, including pricey “washing machine cleaners”, but nothing worked. Well, after using Nellie’s Laundry Soda exclusively for a few weeks, I just realized that my washer doesn’t stink anymore, not even a little, not even with the stick-your-head-all-the-way-inside-the-washer-and-sniff test! I’m amazed.
Thank you so much for such a great product!!
Jaclyn says:
I just wanted to send a quick note to tell you how much I love your
products. Nellie’s has literally changed the way I do laundry. My sensitive
skin was always irritated by other laundry products, and ones for sensitive
skin never seem to work, but now that I use Nellie’s my clothes are
perfectly clean and fresh and my skin is happy. Thanks for making such great
products.

I just wanted to say thank you! I received your laundry detergent & dryer balls as a contest prize hosted by http://multiplesandmore.blogspot.com. Jen says:
Just received my package in the mail of Nellie’s and did a couple of loads. I love the laundry soda so far! I can’t wait to see how it does on my microfiber cloths, which have been repelling water rather than absorbing it considering all the residue from my tide. I also got the oxy brightener. Just a question, do I add it to the detergent holder, along with the laundry soda, in my front loader? I’m also a little disappointed. With my order I had requested a sample of the dishwashing powder because I’d like to try it out first before buying it. Wish that it would have come!
admin says:
We are happy to hear that you are enjoying Nellie’s laundry soda. Yes, you can add the Oxy Brightener to your load of laundry in the bleach compartment.
Nellie’s does not make sample sizes or send out full size packages as samples. Nellie’s has a customer satisfaction policy, therefore you can safely purchase our products knowing that we will resolve the issue if you are unhappy with your purchase.
Shannon says:
I purchased some of the automatic dishwasher nuggets, and the rinse agent. I used these products for the first time yesterday, and found that all of the dishes, pots, drinking glasses, and my daughter’s plastic sippy cups were covered in a white film, which rubbed off when I rubbed my fingertip across the surface. What is this white film? I had to rewash everything by hand. Also, I noticed that a few of the drinking glasses had lip marks left on them, and some of the eating utensils had dried on food on them.
Carol says:
I really like all the Nellie’s products I’ve tried so far – dryballs, laundry soda, brightener – they all work so well. Thanks for making stuff that won’t poison us.
I do have one comment about the dish nuggets however. I live in a city with terribly hard water. I picked up a pack of your dish nuggets not paying much attention to the “fine print”. I am now the proud owner of grey glassware. You may want to consider adding the “soft water” bit to the front of the packaging or go back to the lab.
thanks again for some really great products!
admin says:
Hi Carol,
The dish nuggets and soda are not cut and dry as such regarding hard water. They do seem to work in certain hard water areas. We are changing the packaging to indicate the hard water issues. Thank you for supporting Nellie’s All Natural!
Disappointed says:
Sorry to say, but the detergent does not get my clothes clean. I bought this at the Vancouver home and design show, and really wanted to like the product.
admin says:
For the first time Nellie’s Laundry Soda users:
Nellie’s suggests washing clothes in warm water with 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of baking soda along with 1 tablespoon of Nellie’s for the first couple of washes when switching over to natural laundry soap to break down the detergent built up on fabrics.
Miriam says:
Can your dryerballs be used with cloth diapers? You are not supposed to use dryer sheets because they leave a residue on the diapers and make them less absorbent. Do the dryerballs leave any kind of residue?
admin says:
Nellie’s Dryerballs are safe to use with cloth diapers and do not leave any kind of resude what so ever.

Hi there,
I just purchased the Laundry Nuggets . I love the genius packaging and the fact that you can use the container as a coin holder after use. I was wondering if you share any information about the company that did the packaging & design for Laundry Nuggets tin container.
Thanks a lot,
Mina

Hi Mina,
Nellie’s son has designed the tin package himself and has worked from actual childhood photos.

Enjoyed your animated home page,
had fun clicking on things to see what the comic box would read.
Thank you for the entertainment, and for your quality products that work!!

I have a question about quantity of dryer balls needed. I just purchased two and they get wrapped up in the fitting sheets during the drying process. How many should I be using to prevent this clumping up of sheets?
admin says:
The quantity of Dryerballs used is based in personal preference. Nellies would suggest that you use 2 at a time. However, we have heard from people that say they prefer to use 4 when drying sheets, towels or jeans.

I recently bought your laundry soda with the intention of using it to wash my son’s cloth diapers. They had a “stink” problem and after only one wash with Nellie’s Laundry Soda, they smell CLEAN!!! No more stink issues and no diaper stripping required! I am so impressed, I have started to use it on all of our laundry.
I see tremendous value in your products, not just from an economical standpoint, but environmentally too! Because of the success I have had with the laundry soda, I am in the process of tracking down the rinse agent and the automatic dish powder too. I have been converted!
Thank you Nellie’s for making products that are safe for my family AND effective — up until I started using your products, I thought I had to compromise.

I just wanted to let you know that I have recently started using your
laundry soda, and it has made a big difference to our family! I have a
little one in cloth diapers, with second on the way in another month.
Because of sensitive little skin, unscented detergent is a must, but I have
had a hard time finding one that really gets the odours out of cloth
diapers. Nellie’s laundry soda really does the trick, even when the diapers
have been sitting ummm, for a little longer then usual (please don’t judge
a heavily pregnant woman too harshly!)
Just a tablespoon does the trick, so my cute little tin is around for ages.
Thank you Nellie!

Hi Nellies!
My family loves your products. We really like the new tin for the 100 load laundry detergent but I feel like it is such a waste to get a new tin every time. Would it be possible for you to offer the detergent in an eco friendly bag that you pour into the tin….thus reusing the tin?
Also, who would I contact to discuss wholesale options.
Thanks!
Abby

I recently bought laundry soap (both the brightener and the soda), dryerballs, and the scented sticks. Nellie’s came highly recommended for cloth diapers from the website http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/detergentchoices.htm
which is a website detailing the different types of soap available. I thought I would give it a try before my son got here. I washed all of his clothes and started to wash all of our clothes too. I will be ordering the diapers soon and am looking forward to using Nellie’s on that too. I love it! I am expecting to start buying the big buckets soon! Thank you so much for making such a great product.

Iron and Steel are the worlds most recycled materials, and among the easiest materials to reprocess. Therefore you can feel comfortable recycling the tins if you choose to or use them for another purpose.
admin says:
Nellie’s works well in hard water areas too. If you find that it is not working as well as expected you can add an additional ½ scoop.

Is Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda pH balanced?
Nicole says:
I choose to purchase the product due to the fact that it said that the ingredients were derived from items that I wasn’t allergic too but made no mention of citrus acid being present, as I later found out on the website. As an individual with a citrus allergy I was very disappointed that your product did not have an ingredient list on the actual product in stores. I would really encourage you to consider adding that to your packaging. I am still going to try the product as it is said to be residue-free and I’m hopeful that this may enable me to use without an allergic reaction.

Just wanted to say “Thank you!” I bought Nellie’s laundry soap, along with the Brightener, dryer balls, and fragrance sticks. I bought them with the intention of using them with my baby’s clothes. I tried them with his cloth diapers and they worked great! I can’t say enough good things. All of his clothes come out clean. So, thank you for your great product. You have a buyer for life!

Hello,
After unsuccessfully trying different brands of dishwasher soap I tried Nellies and am very pleased! The inside of my dishwasher is as clean as the day we brought it home. I bought a can of it for a friend and she is also very happy with it! I am looking forward to trying out the dryer balls I recently purchased. Thanks!

I have changed my laundry techniques over the last couple of months. I love your Nellie’s Washing Soda and was so happy to find the large bulk container at Costco online! I gave my friend a bunch to try as her family has very sensitive skin and allergies and they LOVE it. I also use vinegar instead of fabric softner in my washer and am very happy with the results plus the vinegar helps colours from fading and it is good for the washer too. I hang my clothes outside and love the smell as I am folding them to bring inside. Thankyou!
