Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Nuggets Explained
Ever wished you could measure the perfect amount of laundry soap every time you put a load on? Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Nuggets are the solution. Measured out into one-load packets, all you have to do is throw a laundry nugget in with your clothes and turn on the washing machine.
Laundry Nugget Basics
The casing on the Laundry Nuggets is made of MonoSol® film and dissolves in water, therefore there’s no need to “open” the nugget before throwing it in the wash. It’ll dissolve as your clothes are washed, leaving you with fresh, clean laundry.
Laundry Nuggets are hassle and mess free, great for those of us who don’t have a lot of time to fuss over the laundry – from busy moms to bachelors tied up with work. Sometimes the nuggets have been shipped through freezing conditions and harden. If this happens to your Laundry Nuggets, you can roll the nugget between your fingertips to soften it before placing it in the drawer or drum of your machine.

I have been a user of your dryer balls for many years. I am now having a problem with my tennant complaining that she is allergic to the dryer balls. I’m wondering if you could tell
me what they are made of and what could possibly be making her skin itch. She is demanding that I stop using them and to be really honest I don’t want to stop. I thought they
were allergy free. Do you have any comments.
Thanks Barb
Nellie's says:
To answer the question about allergies and Dryerballs:
The current Dryerballs are made of PVC. Once the PVC has cured it can only off gas at extremely high temperatures. Even if your dryer was on fire, the Dryerballs would still not be hot enough to off gas. Also the off gassing is so minor it is not considered a hazardous. There is absolutely no chemicals or oil ever released from the balls. They are completely hypoallergenic.
It should also be noted that in the past when we have had questions or concerns similar to yours it most often turns out to be the detergent or something that is being added to the laundry. Before you discontinue using your Dryerballs we recommend trying a natural detergent. If you are already using a natural detergent try a different brand. It is possible that your tenant is allergic to a natural ingredient in your existing detergent. Naturally we would recommend Nellie’s All Natural. If you are not already using our product we would be happy to send you a sample.

So what will be some of the better features of the NEW Dryerball and when do you think it will be available for purchase?
Julie says:
Are the new dryerballs going to be available soon? I’ve been looking forward to buying a set.
admin says:
We are still in the material testing stages for the new dryerball. We are looking at the second quarter of 2009.
ced says:
can we get an email when the new dryer balls become available?

I would just like to tell you how great your dishwashing soda works- I was having alot of problems with dishes not being clean after I ran a cycle- now that I have switched to Nellies, I never have any problems with food being left on dishes or film on them! You’ve done it again anothe wonderful product… but I am sure you already knew that.

Do I need to clean my dryer balls periodically? Given that I cloth diaper I was wondering if any residual smell might affect the smell of the rest of my laundry. (Toddler poo is horrible!) Thanks! I do love them and they leave my son’s fleese blanket sleeper supre soft and static free!
admin says:
I would suggest adding 1 Tablespoon of Oxygen Brightener to your load of cloth diapers (if the manufacturer allows this) as well as 1/4 cup of vinegar to the load every few times. This will help to eliminate the “stinky smell”.
Maggie says:
I have been using your laundry soda and love it! I was pleased to see that the larger size was available. I also ordered the dishwashing soda for the first time and will look forward to using it too. I live in Canada and don’t have any retailers near me, so being able to order your products is great! Let’s continue to save the planet in even the smallest ways possible! Every little bit counts!
P.S. …i love the canister that the nuggets come in! I really want one for the laundry soda! My washer is a front loader though….can i use the nuggets in a front loader?? Or….how can i get a canister??
thanks!
Maggie
Carrie says:
D’oh! I forgot about the vinegar! Thanks!
Sherri says:
Hi,
I am having some trouble with lip gloss and chapstick remaining on my plastic cups after being run through the dishwasher, will Nellie’s remove them?
Thanks,
Sherri
admin says:
Nellie’s Auto Dish Powder and Nuggets work very well on hard to remove substances in the dishwasher.
ced says:
so when are the new dryer balls coming out????
Erin says:
Hi,
I purchased some dryer balls at a home show in Red Deer and they were all out of the essential oil fragrance that I prefered. They said I could go on-line and order it but I don’t see it anywhere?? The dryer balls I purchased were the ones that have the fragrance stick inside…
Thanks!

Hi
I am wondering if you could provide any more information on the laundry soda. Do all the ingredients break down in a certain time period? Is this considered a green laundry detergent?
Thanks,
Brad
admin says:
Nellie’s Laundry Soda breaks down immediately rinsing residue free. Yes, Nellie’s would be considered a green laundry detergent.
didi says:
I was wondering what is the amount of soap we have to put per load. I have a normal washer.
Thanks.
admin says:
You can use the same recommended amount for HE machines or top load washers. The laundry soda is HE certified due to the fact that there is no additives or phosphates to damage the machine or cause too much sudzing.
Leah says:
Where can I buy the fragrance inserts for the dryer balls….the box says they are sold seperately but I didn’t see them on your website.
admin says:
The fragrance stick are sold on the “shop” page right next to the PVC Free Dryerballs. They are in a glass jar with 10 lavender scent sticks inside.
CrawlMomma says:
How much detergent is in a nugget?
All I can find on the canister is 1.55lbs 50 * 1/2 oz. portions
I’m sorry, but that doesn’t tell me anything, lol.
admin says:
1/2 oz. is equal to 1 tablespoon. The Nuggets are pre-measured for a full load of laundry!
Teresa says:
Do I need to use 2 laundry nuggets for a load.? One nugget just seems to be not enough soap. I am concerned the clothes will not be clean due to the amount of soap in the nugget.
admin says:
We recommend you use only 1 nugget per full load of laundry!
Julia says:
Do you have any suggestions for using Nellie’s laundry soda with very hard water?
admin says:
Nellie’s works very well in all types of water.
Morgan says:
Just how much detergent is in a nugget? What is I’m only washing a small amount of laundry. I don’t want to use too much detergen…
admin says:
There is 1 tablespoon of Nellie’s laundry soda packed into each nugget. You can break open a nugget and use a smaller amount if you are washing a smaller load.
Manon says:
Hi, I used the laundry nugget for the first time yesterday with my front load washer. Unfortunately the film around the nugget, and the nugget itself, did not dissolve completely : I’d say 1/2 of it was still left once the load was completed. This is a brand new washing machine.
Have you heard of them not working all that well ? I think will buy the laundry soda next time.
admin says:
We recommend to massage the pouch before putting the nugget in your washing machine. Try using warm or hot water to help the film dissolve quicker.
Marie says:
Hi !!
My boyfriend and I did an allergic reaction after using your product All-natural laundry soda…
He was itchy and red after wearing his workshirt and I was swollen, red and itchy after wearing my underwears.
I was happy to notice that your product was hypoallergenic, but I did an extra rinse to eliminate all possible residu.
I did use white vinegar as a fabric softner. Do you think a combination of your product and vinegar can trigger an allergic reaction ??
Too bad because the laundry soap works well, the clothes smell great, they’re are clean and bright
Thanks a lot
admin says:
Hello Marie,
I do not believe it was the Laundry Soda or Vinegar that could have caused an allergic reaction. What detergent were you using prior to Nellie’s? I ask this because some detergents leave a coating on fabrics, Nellie’s is starting to break it down off the fabrics but it may take a few washes. Could you be allergic to coconut? As the main derivative in our Laundry Soda is coconut.
Rachelle Ludwig says:
Hi there! I’m severely allergic to most things and hesitate ordering your laundry soda if I can’t use it. Is there a way to get a sample to try it? I’m currently using Life Tree liquid Home Soap but would prefer a powder for my Miele washer. Thanks!
admin says:
Hi Rachelle,
We don’t have samples of our products, but we do offer money back guarantee if your not satisfied!
Olivia L says:
Hi! When using a front loading HE machine, should I still use one nugget or would I need to break it open and use less?
Thanks!
Nancy says:
What are the ingredients of the laundry nuggets? Any fragrance? Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback. Nellie’s All-Natural works great with cloth diapers, it is best to strip the diapers prior to switching to the laundry soda. You can also find great tips from our facebook fans at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nellies-All-Natural/127133350678656
